📝 Technical Product Owner — Fintech

🏢 The Company
A French fintech company. Over 100,000 active users, a partnership with a licensed payment institution, and a funding round in the works.
This position is one of the three founding pillars of the internal organization.
🎯 The Role
The founder's right-hand man. He orchestrates what comes in, what goes out, and the order in which it all happens.
Just to be clear: this is not a discovery role. The goal is not to explore new product areas, but to efficiently execute on a backlog that is already larger than the team’s capacity. Hence the title: Technical Product Owner, not Product Manager.
đź“‹ Tasks
- Documentation: Functional documentation is a company asset, not a chore to be done at the end of a sprint
- Specify: Write tickets that are technical enough to allow developers to move forward without back-and-forth communication. This is where the “T” in TPO pays off in terms of days saved.
- Prioritize: Make decisions when everything comes at once and not everything can be done
- Reorganize the support workflow: Issues are currently piling up without being systematically addressed. We need to take control of this—each ticket must either be dismissed or classified and prioritized
- Facilitating team rituals: the daily stand-up and the weekly maintenance meeting bringing together the tech and support teams
✍️ Why Your Documentation Will Really Matter
The functional documentation is linked to an AI assistant that non-technical teams consult on a daily basis. The product evolves every day; what you write is read, used, and quickly becomes outdated.
If you find documentation tedious, this job will be torture. If you love to write, this is one of the few places where that shows right away.
🎯 Ideal Candidate Profile
- Real-world technical expertise: You can read a data schema, discuss APIs without needing a translator, and know what a spec must include to be implementable
- A strong culture of writing: that's the number one criterion
- Business interest: a complex payment sector with intricate allocation rules and a regulatory framework. You need to be eager to understand it in depth.
- Prioritization Skills: Knowing How to Say No—and How to Explain Why
- Close to the field: The position involves daily interaction with the support team
🏢 The Work Environment
- Daily meeting at 9 a.m. that you lead, weekly tech and support update
- Daily Communication with the Founder
- An organization that needs to be built rather than maintained
🛑 This job isn't for you if...
- Are you looking for a PM role that involves discovery, user research, and a three-year product vision?
- Do you want meaningful remote work?
- You expect the backlog to already be organized and the structure to already be in place
âś… This job is for you if...
- You're better at operating a machine than at leading focus group workshops
- Do you want to make a visible and immediate impact, without a hierarchical structure?
- A complex job appeals to you rather than putting you off
📌 Prerequisites
- Fluency in French, both written and spoken: the main focus of the position is to document and specify requirements in French for French-speaking teams
- Valid authorization to work in France, with no action required on the part of the employer
- Based in the ĂŽle-de-France region: on-site position in Paris; remote work is very limited. Applications requiring a fully remote position or relocation will not be considered.
