🧭 Engineering Manager — .NET / Angular

🏢 The Company

A well-known French group in the B2C sector that operates several brands.

• Consumer products: real-world traffic, peak loads, and users who immediately report any issues
• Several entities within the group, with technical foundations that need to be aligned
• Team: 5 to 10 developers reporting to you

🎯 The Role

A truly hybrid role: 50% management, 50% technical. Both on paper and in practice.

• Manage a team of 5 to 10 developers: oversight, skill development, and project delivery
• Staying in Control of the Code: Architecture, Reviews, and Technical Decisions
• Oversee a cross-functional scope involving multiple entities within the group, with the trade-offs that this entails
• Bridge the gap between the brands' product needs and the team's actual capacity

⚠️ What You Need to Know

• The technology stack is diverse: it ranges from .NET Core 2.1 to .NET 8, with Angular and Vue.js 3 on the front end. Part of the job involves maintaining the existing systems while bringing them into alignment.
• The infrastructure runs on Windows Server/IIS: it is not a cloud-native environment
• A cross-functional scope involves working with multiple entities, which means dealing with multiple points of contact and multiple priorities
• The schedule consists of 3 days on-site in Paris and 2 days working remotely

🔨 Technical Challenges

• Handling the load of a B2C product with Redis, Varnish, and Elasticsearch as back-end support
• Reducing the gap between .NET versions in production without interrupting deployments
• Standardize front-end practices between Angular and Vue.js 3

🧑‍💻 The stack

• Backend: C# / ASP.NET Core, from .NET Core 2.1 to .NET 8
• Frontend: Angular, Vue.js 3
• Data: SQL Server 2022, Elasticsearch
• Infrastructure: Windows Server / IIS, Redis, Varnish, Azure DevOps

🎯 Ideal Candidate Profile

• Experience: At least 8 to 10 years of development experience
• Management: At least 3 years of team leadership experience
• Typical Career Path: Senior Engineer or Tech Lead Who Moved into Management Without Giving Up Coding
• Environment: You're comfortable working within the Microsoft ecosystem and aren't afraid to take over an existing system

📌 Prerequisites

• Fluent in French: The team, daily routines, and business contacts for the various brands are French-speaking
• Valid authorization to work in France, with no action required on the part of the employer
• Based in the Île-de-France region: 3 days of on-site work in Paris per week. Applications requiring a fully remote position or relocation will not be considered.
